COVID 19, what is it?
COVID-19 is an infectious disease that has received global attention from December 2019. Cases of COVID-19 infection have spread worldwide in increasing numbers and, in march 2020 the world health organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic.
Causes
The virus that causes COVID-19 is officially known as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-COV2). Although it can infect animals and humans, only human coronaviruses are known to cause respiratory infections. These infections can range from mild illnesses like the common cold to serious illnesses like Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). Its mode of spread is not well known. It can spread from person to person through respiratory droplets, aerosols (if an infected person coughs or sneezes near you) or by touching an infected surface and then touching your nose, mouth, eyes.
